Bourne BG is a leading designer and provider of mechanical and electrical building solutions in the South of England. Based in Poole, Dorset, the company supplies a broad range of high quality contracting services to public and private sector clients in the commercial, industrial and large-scale domestic markets. High profile projects include Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium.
The Challenge
Bourne BG has a large number of mobile phone users. Between them they make some 2,000 calls every month, so it is essential to keep costs under control. Originally dealing directly with a cellular network, the company found that it was simply buying block minutes in a market where all providers were trying to undercut each other. The ‘cheapest’ tariff always ended up involving hidden costs. Bourne BG decided to look for a provider who could help it keep costs under control, give it the level of support it needed and provide real added value.
The Solution
Bourne BG chose MoCo in 1999 as its mobile communications provider. MoCo recommended O2 as it appeared to offer the consistently lowest tariff, the most transparency and best support. Via MoCo, O2 also offered cashback, enabling investment in handsets rather than having to find additional budget. Bourne BG also liked the fact that using MoCo’s call centre would avoid the lengthy and frustrating waiting times often experienced with other suppliers.
Most calls are with customers and suppliers (often on different networks) rather than between mobiles, so they did not need one of the airtime packages which offer free or low cost inter-company calls. Instead, they opted for a low pay-as-you-go O2 tariff, with all mobile devices on the one annual contract.
The contract with MoCo covers 64 handsets – including some BlackBerrys – as well as SIM cards for vehicle tracking systems and mobile fax machines and USB broadband devices for laptop computers. A subsidiary company which focuses on the residential market also has mobile handsets.
From 2008, MoCo has also provided the company’s fixed line services.
Every year, a month prior to contract renewal date, MoCo provides a full communication review, taking into account Bourne BG’s growing and evolving needs for the new term, and different mobile solutions.
